CIRCE Kick Off Meeting. Bologna (Italy), 3-4 May 2007

Antonio Navarra, CIRCE executive board co-chair, introduces the aim of the project during the Kick-off meeting, held on 3-4 May 2007, in Bologna (Italy). CIRCE wants to predict and quantify physical impacts of climate change in the Mediterranean area, to evaluate the consequences for the society, the economy and the population located in the Mediterranean region, to develop an integrated approach to understand combining effects of climate change and to identify adaptation and mitigation strategies in collaboration with regional stakeholders. The challenge of CIRCE, Navarra declares, is also to find a common vocabulary among scientists, policymakers and local communities.
