CIRCE Kick Off Meeting. Bologna (Italy), 3-4 May 2007

Laurence Tubiana, CIRCE executive board co-chair, explains the novelties of the project during the Kick-off meeting, held on 3-4 May 2007, in Bologna (Italy). CIRCE has got two originalities: the first is the effort to integrate climate science together with social science, the second is that it tries to go from a top down approach to a bottom up method, since local communities and stakeholders are deeply involved since the very beginning. Nowadays, in fact, most of the decisions at local level in the Mediterranean are, are not climate driven but the outcomes of CIRCE can be of help to stimulate or improve the reaction to the impacts of climate change in the region.
