Mediterranean key point in AR5- WG II "Climate Change 2013: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability" PDF Print

29156_corfu_coast.jpg The work for the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) has begun and the Mediterranean region will be a key point to be evaluated in the chapter of the Working Group II "Climate Change 2013: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability". The results of the CIRCE project could be very precious to contribute to this chapter, as Antonio Navarra (CIRCE co-chair) and Silvio Gualdi (CIRCE RL 2 co-leader) declared during the CIRCE Third General Assembly in Madrid (Spain) on 17-19 March.

The work for the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) has begun and the Mediterranean region will be a key point to be evaluated in the chapter of the Working Group II "Climate Change 2013: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability".
In fact, in the part B of the chapter WGII, dedicated to the regional aspects, analyses of consistently defined sub-regions and crossregional hotspots (as  Mediterranean, megadeltas), based on the availability of regional information, will be included in. The results of the CIRCE project could be very precious to complete this part, as Antonio Navarra (CIRCE co-chair) and Silvio Gualdi (CIRCE RL2 co-leader) declared during the Third General Assembly in Madrid (Spain) on 17-19 March 2010. In particular, Silvio Gualdi announced that the work about CIRCE models have been completed. For the first time, models and scenario ad hoc for the Mediterranean region, including the effects of the Mediterranean Sea, have been prepared.
The outlines developed at the scoping meeting in Venice (July 2009) were circulated to IPCC Focal Points and Observer Organizations for comment. During its 9th Session (26-27 October 2009), the IPCC WGII finalized and approved the chapter outlines of the WGII contribution to the AR5. The WGII outline was then accepted at the 31st Session of the IPCC on 29 October 2009 in Bali, Indonesia.
