The Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VUA) was established in 1880. The environmental research includes research on physical processes related to the impact of land use change on our climate, water resources, ecological systems, geomorphology, biodiversity, carbon and nutrient cycling, as well as research on the social and economic issues and drivers leading to such land use change.
